The conservation area is best explored along a vast network of recreation trails measuring 25 kilometres in total and a select few access roads like the Lynx Road and Fisher Lake Trail.

The network of gravel, sand and dirt trails explores a jack pine and spruce forest and connects to attractions like the Old Hollinger Mine and viewpoints at Grosse Point and Jack Pine Lake.

The trails are marked with their own unique names. Some of the trail names include Junco Junction, Jack Rabbit Circle, Kestral Corner and the Tamarack Nature Trail.

The Tamarack Nature Trail is an interpretive trail with 15 points along the route detailing the local wildlife, flora and fauna.

The Hersey Lake Conservation Area is popular for mountain biking, hiking, jogging, swimming, fishing, birding & walking during the summer months. The conservation area includes a sandy beach, a day use picnic area and washrooms.
