The Riverwalk Promenades are located in the City of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. The entire riverwalk experience involves exploring two river pathways. One is called the Red Riverwalk Trail and it follows the banks of the Red River and the other, called the Assiniboine Riverwalk Trail, follows the banks of the Assiniboine River.

The Forks National Historic Site of Canada (The Forks) is a popular destination for accessing the Red Riverwalk. Many start exploring the river pathways from The Forks as it is a main sightseeing destination with attractions in the city.

From The Forks the Red River Promenade connects to a viewpoint overlooking the confluence of the Assiniboine and Red Rivers. From the viewpoint one can connect to the Assiniboine Riverwalk Trail and begin to follow the Assiniboine River.

The Red Riverwalk and the Assiniboine Riverwalk are often very busy with activity. Both are sightseeing trails. Each are easy going, wide and paved routes sheltered by forests consisting of willow, elm, ash or maple trees.

The pathways tend to be very level walkways. The paved riverwalks are popular for walking, sightseeing, jogging, rollerblading and biking. Located along the paths are sightseeing benches and curbs for seating.

The riverwalks are suitable for all fitness levels and ages especially families and little ones as there is always lots of activity to keep them entertained.The routes are also wheelchair and baby stroller friendly pathway equipped with ramps.

From the Red Riverwalk visitors are treated to views of St. Boniface, L'Esplanade Riel Pedestrian Bridge and Downtown Winnipeg. From the Assiniboine Riverwalk there are views of Fort Rouge Park, South Point Park and the L'Esplanade Riel Pedestrian Bridge.

The riverwalk which follows the shores of the Red River connects to various parks, facilities and other trail systems. Some of the popular destinations visited along the pathway include the Broadway Promenade, Osborne Village, Tache Promenade, Parc Joseph Royal, South Point, Don Gerrie Park and Churchill Drive Park.
