Little Mountain Park is a grasslands and forested recreation park located in the City of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.

The green space park is located away from the city in a rural section of the community near some farming and grassland fields. Little Mountain Park is a great park for people who wish to escape the sights and sounds of the city without having to drive for hours.

The park is situated on a limestone ridge. In fact the park was first established in 1896 as a limestone quarry. It was not until 1965 when the 65 hectare (160 acre) park was regenerated, replanted and re-established as a green space recreation park.

The Little Mountain Park is two fold. One section of the park consists of large sections of grassland fields and open prairie landscapes... while another section of the park is all about aspen forest and groves of trees.

Exploring both sections of the park are over 20+ kilometres of recreation trails. The recreation trails vary depending on where you are in the park. Some trails follow grass routes, some follow wood chip trails while others follow gravel routes. Many of the trail routes connect with each other creating an abundance of blind corners and a maze like trail system.

The main trail in the Little Mountain Park is a 3.2 kilometre perimeter loop trail. The trail is covered in wood chips and connects with many of the other smaller, less maintained, trails in the park.

The main trail is decorated with sightseeing benches and leads to a park building and day use picnic sites. Some picnic sites have fire pits and BBQs. The most popular picnic site is located near the main pond which, at one time, was a quarry pit for the old limestone mine.

During the summer months the main activities enjoyed in the park include hiking, walking, birdwatching and dog walking. In the northwest corner of the Little Mountain Park is, what some may consider, the best off leash dog park in the region.

It is during these sunshine months that the fields bloom with wildflowers. Wildlife may make an appearance. If you are lucky you may see a fox, deer or some owls. During the summer the washrooms are open to the public near the main building in the main parking lot.

During the winter months, after the snow falls, the trails become xc ski routes and the building becomes a warming hut. The Little Mountain Park is a winter wonderland of adventure with very little commercial sounds and a peaceful bliss about it.
