The Hot Springs located near the village of Radium Hot Springs are considered the largest hot spring pools in Canada! The hot springs are the main attraction promoting the village attracting many from around the world to the region.

Radium Hot Springs

Radium Hot Springs is a year round attraction located next to the village and within the Kootenay National Park boundaries next to the cliffs of Sinclair Canyon.

The local hot spring resort captures the warm hot spring waters from Sinclair Creek in two giant wading pools. The larger pool hoovers around 39 degrees celsius (103 F) and the smaller pool is around 27 degrees celsius (84 F).

The ground water of Sinclair Creek penetrates into the earth at some point where it is then exposed to intense heat before it is quickly returned back to the surface. During the journey the water picks up minerals like sulphate, calcium, silica and magnesium.

An upper level cement walkway surrounds the hot spring pools of the resort. From the upper level walkway one can enjoy views of the heated mineral spring pools. Along the walkway are sitting benches and outdoor tables, gift stores and various services.

Some of the services available at the hot springs include spas, cafe and restaurants. Across the street from the pools are some accommodations. More accommodations are also available in the community of Radium Hot Springs.

Admission to the park and hot spring pools is required before entering the Kootenay National Park.
