Townsite Trail is a paved community pathway which explores the village of Waterton and visits with Emerald Bay (Divers Bay) and Cameron Bay on the shores of Upper Waterton Lake.

canonrebelThe lake, the village and the trail are all located in the Waterton Lakes National Park in the southwest corner of the province of Alberta, Canada.

The paved recreation pathway is considered an easy-going, level loop route popular for activities like walking, biking, jogging and sightseeing. Sections of the pathway are wheelchair and baby stroller friendly.

The section of the path which follows the shores of Upper Waterton Lake includes access to picnic sites, a sandy beach, sightseeing benches, viewpoints, large grass lawns, a playground and boat tours.

The Townsite Trail is measures about 3.2 kilometres. Combine the waterfront pathway with the campground trail along the river and some side streets and the route makes for a great sightseeing tour of the village.

The Townsite Trail also provides easy access to other trails and sightseeing destinations like Cameron Falls, the Bertha Trail and the Carthew-Alderson Trail.

How to Get to Townsite Trail

Travel to the Waterton Townsite in the Waterton Lakes National Park in the southwest corner of the province of Alberta, Canada. From Waterton Avenue (main street) park and walk to the shores of the lake and you cannot miss the trail.
