Here is a Moosonee Things To Do List for some of the more popular summer and winter adventures and activities enjoyed while visiting and exploring, in and around, Northern Ontario, Canada including the surrounding communities of Moose Factory.

Wildlife Sightings: Plan a boat and/or a plane sightseeing tour and view the beluga whales, seals and polar bears. Best season for viewing is in the spring and fall seasons.

Look to the Skies :On some nights look up to the stars and watch the Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis) dance in the skies flashing brilliant colours of green, orange, yellow and red.

Rod & Reel : Cast a fishing line in the Moose River or in some of the secondary streams in the region and try your luck fishing for brook trout, northern pike and/or walleye. Bring your own gear.

Camp Out: Take a water taxi to Charles Island in the Tidewater Provincial Park where one can camp and enjoy birdwatching and wildlife sightings surrounded by the flora and fauna of a sub arctic environment.

Birding :Birding in Moosonee and Moose Factory provide an opportunity to view shorebirds, predator birds and migrating birds. Shipsands Island and the Southern James Bay area have a good selection of bird sanctuaries for birding.

Ride the Rails :The Polar Bear Express Rail travel from Cochrane. Ontario to Moonosee, Ontario. The rail service is a transportation link to the north, as well as, activities like hiking, canoeing and hunting. 

Canoe :Canoeing the region includes day paddles like on the Moose River and long haul paddles with portages and wilderness camping on the Missinaibi River.

Sledding :Snowmobiling in the north is more of a mode of transportation than an activity tour. There are endless snowmobile routes to enjoy connecting to remote villages.

XC Ski : In town there are some cross country ski trails which are used for getting around town during the winter months. Bring your own skies and follow the trails in the north.
