North Bay, Ontario Things To Do List and guide for some of the more popular summer and winter adventures and activities enjoyed while visiting and exploring, in and around, Northeastern Ontario, Canada.

troutlake019Wander the Waterfront: The waterfront in North Bay is a major gathering spot for activity. There is a 3 km boardwalk path connecting to beaches, botanical gardens, marina, restaurants, children attractions and more. 

Blades a Rolling: Start down on the waterfront and then continue your in-line adventure on any of the connecting paved trails which explore the community.

Swing some Clubs :Bring your golf game (clubs too) to North Bay and try your luck putting, driving and losing balls while improving your handicap score. 

Cast a Line :Have a BBQ but no fish to fry. Local fishing charters and guides can assist you in fishing the waters of Lake Nipissing or Trout Lake for walleye, pike, trout, whitefish, perch and muskie. 

Hike a Trail :There are many paved hiking and walking trails in the community to explore and for the more rugged hiking experience venture out to Algonquin or the Samuel de Champlain Provincial Parks. 

Head Off Road : Grab an ATV and explore the backcountry trails and far reaching gravel roads. Popular routes include 70+ kilometre Old Nipissing Road and the 100+ km Mattawa River North Multi Use Trails.

Boat / Sail:Boating and sailing are prime and popular activities during the summer season on Lake Nipissing. There is a local full service marina and sightseeing boat tours operating from the waterfront in North Bay. 

Be Eventful :There are many four season events, concerts and festivals in North Bay. One of which is the Nipissing First Nation Pow Wow held every year.

Take a Drive:There are times when a good sightseeing road trip is in order. If so then plan for one of these circle tours : +50 km Ahmic Lake, the 25+ km Lake Bernard, the 20+ km Eagle Lake or the 40+ km Wilderness Circle Tours.

Saddle Up : :Horseback riding in the backcountry is enjoyed along the Muskoka Trail, Moose Mtn. Trail, Old Nipissing Rd. and throughout the 100+ km Mattawa River North Multi Use Trails. 

Paddle Hard :The 90+ km Surgeon River, the 60+ km Mattawa River, 10+ km Tom Thompson Canoe Routes are just a few paddle routes in the region for the canoeists to explore. Not enough than head over to Algonquin and the Samuel de Champlain Parks for many more. 

Ride the Rails :The Dream Catcher Express is a sightseeing railway adventure connecting you to the community of Temagami (north of North Bay) where one can visit with First Nation culture, traditions and a tipi village.

Ski / Snowboard :During the winter season one should not travel Ontario without their skis and snowboards. In North Bay such toys are put to good use at the local ski hill. 

Go Cross Country: Over 20+ km of xc ski trails are available to explore in winter at the local nordic ski club. Want more groomed trails then head out to some of the nearby selected parks that embrace xc skiing.

Sledding :Snowmobiling is a great way to sightsee the backcountry during the winter season. There are groomed trail systems connecting to parks, lakes and remote areas.

Ice Fishing :Set up an ice shack or book with an outfitter a day of ice fishing on Lake Nipissing or on Trout Lake.
